CMS: Umbraco & Sitecore
Development, support, upgrades and migrations of CMS solutions. I work in both Umbraco and the enterprise platform Sitecore — from new sites and features to ongoing maintenance and headless setups.
Freelance senior developer for companies and agencies in Europe and the US
I help companies and agencies build, integrate and maintain software that just works. Senior experience and clear communication, delivered remotely from Mexico at a lower rate than Western consultancies.
§ 01
I’m primarily a backend developer with three core areas, and I’m happy to take the solution all the way to the frontend when the task calls for it.
Development, support, upgrades and migrations of CMS solutions. I work in both Umbraco and the enterprise platform Sitecore — from new sites and features to ongoing maintenance and headless setups.
Backend in C#/.NET and integrations that make your systems talk to each other: webshops (Shopify and others), PIM, ERP and APIs. Solutions that are stable, testable and maintainable — three years from now, too.
LLM features, retrieval/RAG and automation, integrated into your existing systems and workflows. I help you find the places where AI actually saves time and creates value.
I also work in React and TypeScript, so I can take a task all the way from database to user interface.
§ 02
I work from Mexico (CST). For US clients that means overlap across the whole business day; for European clients a fixed daily window of 15:00–18:00 CET where you can always reach me. The rest of the day is focused, uninterrupted development.
No middlemen and no telephone game. You talk directly to the person writing the code — in clear English, in the channels your team already uses.
More than 10 years of experience means fewer mistakes, better decisions and solutions that last. You pay for quality, not for on-the-job training.
No expensive offices, no middlemen, and a cost level in Mexico below Western Europe and the US. You see it in the hourly rate, not in the quality.

Behind Appelta is Mathias Hove, a software developer with more than 10 years of experience in C#/.NET. I specialize in CMS (Umbraco and Sitecore), backend development, and implementing AI in client solutions.
I run Appelta independently and work remotely from Mexico. After more than a decade in the Danish software industry, I now help companies and agencies across Europe and the US directly — as an external senior developer they can count on.

§ 04
I’ve worked with .NET and CMS for over 10 years — as an employee and as a freelancer — for both companies and agencies. A sample of the kind of work I take on:
Integration platform for a Danish manufacturing company: product data flows automatically from PIM and ERP to the web, with no manual double entry.
External senior developer on Umbraco and Sitecore solutions: new features, upgrades and maintenance — in the agency's own tools and processes.
LLM features and automation integrated into existing .NET platforms, from idea and prototype to running in production.

For US clients it's simple: I'm in CST, so we share the business day. For European clients I keep a fixed daily window at 15:00–18:00 CET for meetings, sparring and quick answers — and because the rest of my workday runs after European hours, finished work is often waiting when you start your morning. We communicate in English, in the channels you already use: Slack, Teams or email.
I invoice from my company in Mexico. For EU businesses that typically means an invoice without VAT (reverse charge); for US companies it's a standard international vendor invoice. Your bookkeeper will know the procedure from other foreign suppliers, and I'm happy to clarify the details before we start.
Both. Ongoing development and maintenance is billed hourly, while well-defined tasks can be agreed at a fixed price. You always get a clear estimate before the work begins.
Yes, of course. I'm happy to work under NDA and with a written agreement covering scope, terms and intellectual property: your trade secrets and your code are yours.
Yes. A large part of my work is exactly that — external senior developer for agencies and in-house teams. I work in your tools, your processes and your codebase, and you decide how visible I am to your clients.
Anything else you’re unsure about? Ask away — it costs nothing
